Necrite: French avant-BM from the USA

While the black metal underground is eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Paracletus‘, the rapidly approaching new album of the mysterious French avant-garde black metal  superstars from hell Deathspell Omega (new track here), I came across a post on HSS which pointed me to another dense and chaotic musical outfit: Necrite.

Check this awesome track

at Stereogum of their debut full-length ‘Sic transit gloria mundi‘ (“Thus passes the glory of the world“) which will be released on Flenser Records.

As Kevin Gan Yuen said in the comments below the cover painting for the Necrite album is a collaborative effort by an artist named Veneranda Latimosa (pencils) and himself (inks).

Although they sound French music-wise, they’re from San Fransisco. So I file them next to other amazing and unique black metal bands coming from the New Continent like Liturgy, Krallice, Fauna and Wolves in the Throne Room.

Good times.

And I just so happen to know that there’s something brooding deep in the swamps of the Netherlands as well… Nihill are working on a new record for instance.
