Lawrence Yang: Order out of chaos

“Nest” – ink, watercolor and gouache on paper – 12″ x 9″

Lawrence Yang wrestles with informational abstractions by day and paints by night. Influenced by graffiti art and traditional Chinese painting, he employs ink, marker, and watercolor, as the permanence of this media adds a sense of immediacy to his work. Lawrence’s paintings […] are concerned primarily with creating order out of chaos (and vice versa). (source)

“Pet Monster” – ink, watercolor and gouache on paper – 10″ x 7″

Yang makes other kinds of paintings as well, but I took these out because I like the way the world around the black creatures seems to be vibrating with energy. While the grass on the ground and the creatures seem to be like black holes, getting all the attention.

“Archangel” WIP 3 – ink, watercolor and gouache on paper – 15″ x 20″

Visit Yang’s blog which gets updated quite often (unlike this one 😉 )
