The Sick Boy and the Tree

The Sick Boy and the Tree is an animation by Paul  Jaeger. He sees it as an homage to Tim Burton. Because of the rhyme scheme and because it is about a boy alone with is imagination, I immediate thought of Burton’s well-known short Vincent which was narrated by horror icon Vincent Price (see below).

The visual style is of Sick Boy very sketchy and has about the same feel as Burtons drawings.

The story is about a sick boy who decides to hold on to life just as long as the leaves on the tree outside his hospital window. This is a story made by the father of Jaeger, and although it is a very cool plot, I do not fully grasp the ending (yet). Anyhow: a very charming stop-motion short.
