144 Times blacker than black art

The Belgian artist Frederik De Wilde (find his myspace here) has made a piece of art that is 144 times blacker than black.

In collaboration with the Rice University, Texas he made a substance that absorbs nearly all light that falls onto the material. The work is framed with an ‘just’ black frame, to show how much blacker this new black is. This new black can be seen from 15 January in a gallery in Brussels (I have not found out which one)

So for all you boys and girls with that shirt saying: ‘I’m only wearing black until they make something darker’. Well, ‘they’ have done just that, so you better start updating your wardrobe!
